Muchacha con vitiligo convirtió su cuerpo en una obra de arte y sus fotos son furor (14/03/2017)



Ashley Soto fue diagnosticada con vitiligo a los 12 años, cuando le apareció en el cuello la primera señal. El vitiligo es una enfermedad autoinmune que provoca la pérdida de melanina y la consecuente falta de pigmentación en algunas zonas de la piel.

La muchacha tiene hoy 21 años y el 75% de su cuerpo muestra áreas más claras propias de la enfermedad. Si bien por mucho tiempo intentó ocultar su condición, en la actualidad ha logrado hacer que juegue a su favor y darle a su aspecto un carácter único y artístico.



Ahora, su piel es el lienzo para mapas, flores y hasta una pintura de Van Gogh. “No me había dado cuenta lo bello que era mi vitiligo hasta que tracé sus bordes con un marcador negro y descubrí los diferentes colores de mi piel. Noté que las áreas blancas lucían como un mapa y eso me pareció maravilloso”, declaró Soto a Daily Star.

La joven de Florida, Estados Unidos, ya cuenta con más de 80.000 seguidores en Instagram y confiesa que no aceptó su condición por completo hasta que descubrió la posibilidad crear arte en su piel.





Soto cuenta que sufrió burlas por el aspecto de su piel, especialmente cuando usaba bikini, por lo que comenzó a tapar su cuerpo. Pero superados los duros años de la adolescencia, decidió que no quería esconderse más: “Al irme haciendo adulta, me empecé a sentir más madura mentalmente y me volví una persona más fuerte”.

“Comencé a aceptarme cada día un poco más con pequeños desafíos, como salir a la calle sin sweater y así fui progresando”, agrega la muchacha.

Hoy, Ashley se muestra orgullosa de ser quien es y deslumbra en las redes sociales con el singular arte que pinta en su cuerpo.
